Throughout medieval times, metal and leather armor was often combined in a unique fashion that still inspires the imagination today. This gear features layers of textile or leather reinforced with metal bands riveted onto them; an evolutionary form which was mistaken for \"studded\" armor by Victorian historians who lacked understanding of their composition at the time. Leather garments were thus given robust sturdiness via metal components, allowing for a decisive compromise between agility and defensiveness.
