Das Mittelalter Überkleid gehörte in der Mode des Mittelalters untrennbar zur Ausstattung des weiblichen Geschlechts. Von daher nimmt es auch einen dominanten Platz in unserer Reenactment-Kollektion ein.
Im frühen Mittelalter diente das Überkleid meist eher pragmatischen Gesichtspunkten. So sollte es vor allem vor den Unwillen der oft widrigen Witterung schützen. Als Zierelemente wurden jedoch je nach Stand der Trägerin auch sehr aufwendige Schmuckelemente wie Fibeln und Broschen getragen.
